On 23rd July the Kilmallie Community Centre resonated with an old-fashioned sound – conversation!  While we spend so much of our time watching screens and on the phone, a good old-fashioned chat is always welcome. 

Around 130 people attended the Strawberry Tea organised by the Friends of Kilmallie Church, Corpach. The organisers much appreciate the donations from Lidl, Morrisons and the Corpach Co-op, as well as from individual bakers.

Although over £600 was raised, that wasn’t the main objective.  Chair of the Friends, Norma MacLellan, also the main organiser, said, “While the money raised is useful, the main aim was to get people together and give them a chance to have the craic with people they perhaps haven’t seen for some time.  Many people don’t get out much, so we gave them a pleasant afternoon, not forgetting the strawberries and cream!  It’s a real team job to run something like this and we’re grateful for everyone’s effort.”

An extra part of the afternoon was the community safety message, thanks to leaflets distributed by Sarah Dickinson, Community Safety Advocate from the Fire and Rescue Service.  

The next event to be organised by the Friends will be the Kilmallie Community Burns Supper in January.
